I hate my DVR

So earlier this week I was beginning to wonder if I was losing my mind.

I was doing my usual routine of late for a Monday night: Watching “Paranormal State” while recording “Medium.” I know I set the DVR to record NBC at 10 p.m.  I swear I recall seeing the little red dot marking it on the TV grid.

Well, guess what? It didn’t tape. When I went to look for something on Tuesday, I discovered there was no “Medium.” That sucks. But it’s no huge deal; I can always track it down on Hulu. That’s not the point, though. I was beginning to wonder if I had dreamt setting the recording.

But then it happened again. Last night. This time I know I set a recording for “Survivor: Tocantins.” Came home, all ready to find out who was voted off the island, and voila! No “Survivor.”

The most annoying thing about the DVR is that there’s no way (least as I can figure) to find proof that you set it to record something that it didn’t record.

Is there a reason why the DVR hiccups like this? It’s happened to me once or twice before in the two years I’ve had it, but twice in one week? Is it a system glitch? Is there any way to ensure it does tape something? Heaven forbid I want to record something that’s not repeated and can’t be found online.

Stop the insanity!
