I recently interviewed Jersey girl Cameron Richardson from CBS’ “Harper’s Island” for the newspaper.
She grew up in Old Bridge in Middlesex County.
I asked her about the controversy surrounding the violent “Harper’s Island,” which is a bloody romp about a group of people being stalked by a serial killer during a destination wedding. Here’s what she had to say:
“I think they show worse (things) on ‘CSI:,'” she said. “Last night, I was watching ‘Fringe,’ and I saw somebody’s body being ripped apart, and I was like, ‘Oh, our show’s not that bad.’
“But I think that in the context of the horror (genre), people get a little freaked out.”
I think Cameron brings up a very good point here. If “Harper’s Island” wasn’t dubbed as a mystery/suspense/horror type of show, would anyone be complaining about its violent deaths?
You can read my full interview with Cameron right here.
“Harper’s Island” is on tonight – and every Thursday night – at 10 p.m. on CBS.
