“Dog the Bounty Hunter”: Trouble in paradise?

So it looks like there are problems aplenty brewing in Dog’s house.

The Dog, of course, I’m referring to is Duane “Dog” Chapman, star of the A&E series “Dog the Bounty Hunter.” I’ve stumbled across some stuff online recently that’s got me worried that there is major trouble in paradise.

A while back I read that Dog’s eldest son, Duane Lee, had left the Hawaii-based family bounty-hunting business. (Adding credence to that rumor was the fact Duane Lee also deleted his Twitter account and that he’s been absent in recent, new episodes.) Then, just last night, I saw Dog’s son Leland tweet a couple of disturbing things:

“Yes I no longer work on the show”

“You can’t trust anyone these days friends family everyone has (sic) there own agenda”

Whoa, Nelly! Can’t we all just get along? Remember when the Chapman household was a loud, boisterous, happy place?

I remember way back then when everything was true and when
We would have such a very good time such a fine time
Such a happy time
And I remember how we’d play simply waste the day away
Then we’d say nothing would come between us two dreamers

I hate to break it to the Chapmans, but the WHOLE show is based on the family unit, quirks and all.  It’s the heart and soul of the show. If you take away the family element – and throw in random people who don’t have the personality/share family ties – it just won’t be the same. Especially when the family element in question is Leland and Duane Lee. Have you ever seen these guys hunt?

I have no idea what issues are plaguing the Chapman household right now. But even in the best of circumstances, I can’t imagine working for your parents is exactly a 24/7 thrill… even if your parents are Dog and Beth.

Seems to me that the Chapmans might benefit from the perspective of an unbiased third party. May I suggest Dr. Ann Wexler of “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” fame? Airing their issues in a family therapy session might be just what the Chapmans need to get over this hump and back on the road again, together.

I just hope it’s not too late.

Maybe Dr. Phil would be better. Certainly the entire family needs some help. It’s a shame, because the family ties have been the heart of the show, as the article says. And what about Tim — are those charges true? Horrifying, if so.

Awesome post and video accompaniment, plus a referral to Dr. Wexler!
