Fox has pulled the plug on its hugely popular series “House.” The show, currently in its eighth season, takes place at the fictitious Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will wrap up the end of this season. The mag also reports that star Hugh Laurie said in November that he planned on retiring from television acting once the show ended. Meanwhile, the real Princeton-based hospital is flourishing: it is scheduled to move to a new, state of the art facility in May and officially be renamed University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Who says life doesn’t (at least partly) imitate art?

Mendham native Peter Dinklage, fresh off filming a second season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” is already lining up several new projects.  Cinema Blend reports that Peter will star with Justin Long and Evan Rachel Wood in “A Case of You.” The Emmy and Golden Globes winner is also attached to “Knights of Badassdom,” which also stars “True Blood’s” Ryan Kwanten, and another film, “My Dinner with Herve.” The new father (his wife gave birth to the couple’s first child, a girl, late last year) also will voice a character in the fourth animated “Ice Age” film, entitled “Continental Drift.” “Game of Thrones” returns Sunday, April 1.

Hoboken may have rejected them, but Jersey City has agreed to allow “Jersey Shore” stars Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWOWW” Farley film their new, as yet untitled, MTV reality series in town beginning next week.  According to The Star-Ledger, Snooki and JWOWW’s new home will be  renovated firehouse located near the intersection of Grove and Mercer streets. The city’s mayor, Jerramiah Healy, told Fox 5 New York he was happy. “The more people that see anything about Jersey City and see what we have in Jersey City,” he told the TV station, “the better it is for Jersey City.”
