“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”: Money can’t buy you happiness

Watching “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” this season, it’s become crystal (or should I say Cristal?) clear to me that the Countess has got it all wrong: Money can buy you class (take some etiquette classes, duh), but what it most certainly cannot buy you is H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S-S.

Yes, my friends, this Jersey girl is prepared to admit it right now: I’m finding myself relating much more – and feeling gobs more empathy – toward the women of Beverly Hills this season than I do about the women of my home, the Garden State.

And while you may think you have nothing in common with these women, I’m here to tell you you’re wrong. And here’s why:

Is everything all right now between Jon & Kate?

Based on a new TMZ video, it can’t be that bad between Jon and Kate Gosselin.

The hugely popular stars of the TLC series “Jon & Kate Plus 8” hit the town (Beverly Hills, that is) last night! What the heck?

I’m glad to see that they’re together, especially given the serious note the season finale ended on this week. But it does give me pause, though. I mean, Jon was clearly upset in this week’s episodes. In fact, I believe he said – and I quote him directly – “We don’t have any privacy at all.”

Jon went on to complain – and don’t get me wrong, I’m really very sympathetic toward him – “If I go out, people know I go out and photograph it and do everything they gotta do to do something about it.  But that’s tough for me.”

This time, Jon was photographed out with Kate. Does that mean that he doesn‘t mind being photographed with Kate? Maybe his complaint was based on his being photographed doing something he shouldn’t have been doing with someone he shouldn’t have been with…

Because I hate to break it to him, but he’s not going to have privacy – especially if he hits a restaurant popular with celebrities that’s in the very town where paparazzi hang out.

Unless… is it possible that Jon has changed his tune and is now embracing his notoriety?

Or, even worse, was it all a stunt to drive up the show’s ratings? I certainly hope not – and frankly, I think better of them than that. But if that was the intent, it worked like a charm: This week’s finale was viewed by over 4.6 million viewers and, according to Entertainment Weekly, beat NBC, The CW, CBS and Fox among woman aged 18 to 34.
