If the only thing you know about New Jersey is what you see on television – aka “Jerseylicious,” “Jersey Couture,” “Jersey Shore” and “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” – you may be under the false impression that everyone in the Garden State wears bedazzled animal prints 24/7.

That’s where you’d be wrong – and Lloyd Boston is proof of that. The New Brunswick native is a fashion style expert with four books and a TV show, “Closet Cases,” under his belt. His latest tome, “The Style Checklist: The Ultimate Wardrobe Essentials For You,” dropped earlier this month. A regular contributor to the “Today” show, Lloyd appeared on the morning program twice last week alone to talk fashion. He will add to his list of TV appearances when he drops by “The Wendy Williams Show” on Sept. 15 (check local listings) and  “The Martha Stewart Show” on Hallmark Channel at 10 a.m. Sept. 22.

Lloyd also took part in New York City’s Fashion’s Night Out on Friday, which is where I met up with him. As spokesman for Jones New York, Lloyd dazzled Lord & Taylor shoppers with a fashion show and commentary, and later offered tips – as well as photos and autographs – to his admirers.

“Closet Cases”: Jersey boy Lloyd Boston has a passion for fashion

I never thought I’d ever say this, but I have a friend who’s got his own television show.

You may recognize him: His name is Lloyd Boston, and he’s appeared on several shows already, including “The View,” “Oprah” and the “Today” show. He’s also the official spokesman for Jones New York. Now, he’s the host of his very own series, “Closet Cases,” on Fine Living Network. New episodes of the show air at 9 p.m. Mondays. And like other cable channels, you can catch repeats throughout the week.

“Closet Cases” has its very own Facebook fan page, which you can join by going here.

Lloyd also deserves special props because he’s a Jersey native like me. He grew up in New Brunswick, N.J., the only child of Lynell Kollar, who now resides in North Brunswick.

In fact, Lynell will be featured in an upcoming episode of “Closet Cases.” Lloyd and Lynell share a very close relationship and make a point of getting together as often as possible. Mothers Day is a special holiday for them, as I discovered when I interviewed them last year at The Frog and the Peach in New Brunswick. Lloyd and Lynell have some great relationship tips for mothers and adult children on Mothers Day and throughout the year by going here.
