Have “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” agreed to forgive and forget?

Most people spend December celebrating the holidays and January the new year. But not “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Danielle Staub.

No, Danielle prefers to spend her time filing complaints against her *friends* in court.

If you even recall, Danielle was at the center of an altercation which also involved two of her co-stars, Jacqueline Laurita and Teresa “Fabulous!” Giudice, and Jacqueline’s daughter, Ashley Holmes, on Nov. 11. Danielle alleged that Ashley, 19, yelled “I’ll get her” and “I’ll kill you” prior to pulling one of Danielle’s hair extensions out by the root during the fashion show at Wayne’s North Jersey Country Club.

During a court date in early December, Judge Lawrence Katz issued a summons against Ashley on charges of harassment and simple assault, both of which are disorderly persons offenses.

In a report dated yesterday, The Record says Ashley was found guilty on the assault count. She must pay a whopping fine of $189. The charge of harassment was dismissed.

Gee, how will she ever cobble together that much money?

Scott Bocker, Ashley’s attorney, told The Record, “The judge was very sympathetic and I want to thank the prosecutor; when it came down to sentencing Ashley, (Prosecutor Tom) Melani also expressed sympathy for Ashley and asked the judge to be extremely lenient.”

Hmmm… let me get this straight: The lawyer representing Danielle felt sorry for Ashley and asked the judge to be “extremely” lenient?

Either Danielle had a change of heart (or an epiphany along the lines of “Oh, gee. If I want to stay friends with Jacqueline, maybe I shouldn’t be going after her offspring in court!”), Danielle’s lawyer thinks she’s cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs or… the entire incident was blown out of proportion on purpose for the benefits of – yep, you guessed it – television.

I go with the latter.

And yes, Bravo cameras were on hand for both the incident and an earlier court appearance in December – though surprisingly they reportedly were not present yesterday.

Interestingly, Ashley’s sole Tweet of the day (that would be Jan. 29) was this:

“When someone hurts us, We want to hurt them back. When someone wrongs us, We want to be right. Without forgiveness, nothing is ever settled.”

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” head to court

Are you familiar with the phrase “let sleeping dogs lie”? Apparently Danielle Staub isn’t.

During an appearance yesterday in a Garden State municipal court, The Record reports the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star said she feared for her safety during an altercation last month between she and castmates Jacqueline Laurita and Teresa Giudice – but that it was Jacqueline’s teenage daughter, Ashley Holmes, of whom she was most intimidated.

However, Danielle dropped her complaints against Jacqueline and Teresa but forged ahead with charges against Ashley, 19.

“I’m just a little afraid, to be honest with you,” Danielle said in court.

Danielle told Judge Lawrence Katz that Ashley said “I’ll get her” and “I’ll kill you” prior to pulling one of Danielle’s hair extensions out by the root. The incident took place Nov. 11 during a fashion show at Wayne’s North Jersey Country Club. A Bravo camera crew, which reportedly captured that incident on tape, also accompanied Danielle to court yesterday.

(Read what the police report says about the altercation here.)

As a result of Danielle’s testimony, Judge Katz issued a summons against Ashley on charges of harassment and simple assault. Both are disorderly persons offenses.

Jacqueline is obviously (and understandably) angry and upset about this turn of events, and she vented on Twitter.

“SOME people will do ANYthing to get their name in the press,” she tweeted today, referring to Danielle in another post as “dirty D.”

Of course, this whole matter could probably be resolved quickly if Bravo said, “Let’s go to the videotape!” (tip of the hat to former local sportscaster Warner Wolf), but what would be the fun in that?
