Is Jesse James fighting for custody of his daughter?

Every time my blog goes nuts with hits I have to assume something big is going on. And in the case of bad boy Jesse James, I gather it is.

Although the American tabloids don’t seem to have picked up on it yet, the “Celebrity Apprentice” breakout star and his wife, Sandra Bullock, are apparently gearing up for a custody battle over Jesse’s almost 6-year-old daughter, Sunny, with Jesse’s ex-wife, porn star Janine Lindemulder. Sandra, 45, and Jesse, 40, have had custody of the girl while Janine, as I reported previously, served six months in prison for tax evasion. Janine, 40, was recently released to a halfway house, and according to reports will be allowed to apply for custody of Sunny after the new year.

As a preemptive strike against such a move, Jesse recently told a California court that “Good cause exists for the court to conduct a review to determine if Sunny will be safe with (Janine). She should be restrained from allowing the child around pornographers, drug addicts, guns and firearms, felons and other unsafe environments.”

Well that’s just common sense. It’s sad when a no-brainer statement like that has to be articulated. Don’t you think a mother should automatically know that?

Jenna Jameson pregnant

Does being a porn star like Jenna Jameson, shown earlier this year shortly before giving birth to twin boys, mean you can't be a good mother?

This report also makes me wonder: Does being a porn actress mean you can’t be a good mother? Look at Jenna Jameson. She’s considered the queen of the industry and just gave birth to twin boys earlier this year.

Or is it Janine’s porno past combined with her prison sentence that makes her not-such-an-ideal mother? I’m sure there’s much more to this story than what’s been reported.

Is a “Real Housewife of New Jersey” going to lose her house?

The economy is in the toilet, and things are rough all over. Even for reality show stars.

[clearspring_widget title=”Bravo TV Video – Teresa’s House Tour” wid=”4657041ec2a2cf53″ pid=”4ae0e774d733985e” width=”400″ height=”400″ domain=”widgets.bravotv.com”]

RadarOnline reports that “Real Housewife of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice and her “delicious and juicy” hubby Joe may lose their brand-spanking-new Montville manse.

According to the tabloid site, papers have been filed by DLJ Mortgage Capital Inc. with New Jersey Superior Court to repossess the home Teresa and Joe share with their four daughters: Gia, 8, Gabriella, 5, Milania, 3, and 1-month-old Audriana. The home, as anyone who watched the first season of the hit Bravo series knows, is full of granite and marble and onyx.

UPDATE

Evidently the aforementioned foreclosure papers pertain to another property Teresa owns and not her 1+ million-square-foot granite and marble and onyx-filled home. The Star-Ledger reports the property in question is actually 5 miles away in Lincoln Park.

In related “RHNJ” news, the Ledger suggests there may be a new housewife taking over for one of the five women featured in the first season. Teresa, Caroline Manzo and the ever-so-controversial Danielle Staub will supposedly return, but the fates of Jacqueline Laurita and Dina Manzo are still up in the air.

Vanity Fair hits the nail on the head with “Jon & Kate Plus 8”

This month’s online Vanity Fair article about Kate Gosselin confirms something I’ve suspected all along: Both she and Jon are addicted to all of the attention.

I am almost embarrassed to admit I own every one of these issues. Sheesh.

I am embarrassed to admit I own almost every one of these issues. Sheesh.

And, I suppose, in some sort of sick way, it’s understandable: Since March of this year, Kate and her husband of extremely poor judgment have appeared on the cover of celebrity tabloids over 50 times (15 times each in In Touch Weekly and Star Magazine alone). Vanity Fair says that number is more than any other celebrity, Brangelina included.

Star Magazine editor Candace Trunzo points to those photos of Jon partying at a bar with college coeds in Pennsylvania as the beginning of the insanity.

“It was the beginning of this incredible phenomenon known as Jon and Kate Gosselin,” Trunzo tells Vanity Fair. “Everybody wanted to talk about them. They had become a real-life soap opera. The show was never as interesting as the two of them in real life.

“They were doomed to be exposed,” Trunzo continues, “because they put themselves out there in the first place. And now they’re addicted to the limelight.”

And are they ever. “The View,” the “Today” show, “Larry King Live,” “The Insider”… it’s endless.

Not surprisingly, the Jon and Kate scandal has drastically benefited these magazines, all of which have been suffering the effects of the slowed economy. Vanity Fair says that unlike other celebrity stories, the Gosselins are easy to produce, partly because the price of paparazzi shots of them run a lot less.

It also helps that Jon and Kate either don’t know how to control their image or don’t want to.

“Brad and Angelina try to be discreet,” explains In Touch Weekly editor Richard Spencer to Vanity Fair, “whereas Jon and Kate, they serve it daily to you on a platter.”

And if you had any doubt that Kate isn’t lapping up all this attention, check this out: During a shopping trip the Vanity Fair writer took with Kate to FAO Schwarz in New York City, a paparazzo sneaked photos of Kate as her purchases were rung up. He explains, “She’s a massive story at the moment.” When the Vanity Fair reporter relays that news to Kate, guess what her reply is?

“At the moment?”

This whole exploration of addiction to fame reminds me of what Kate said on the “Today” show a couple weeks back – about how her kids are upset that the TLC show isn’t taping.

“Over the weekend I told them that we’re not filming at this point,” she told Meredith Vieira. “And actually, times eight, there was wailing and sobbing. They love our crew, they love the interaction, they love the events. There is nothing harmful about it. They are angry.”

Based upon her statement, I’d argue the Aaden, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Joel and Collin are addicted to the attention, too. And how could they not be? It makes perfect sense: Their parents probably pay more attention to them while the show is filming than at any other time. Plus, they have other people (the film crew) whom they can turn to when their parents are distracted.

Dr. Drew Pinsky should forget about celebrities addicted to drugs, alcohol and sex, and instead focus on those who are addicted to media attention. He’d have more clients than he’d know what to do with – and he’s already got 10 in Pennsylvania.

“Table For 12” visits East Brunswick

So it was by complete happenstance that I just caught on television New Jersey’s own Hayes family (aka the stars of TLC’s “Table For 12”) taking their brood of 10 children – take that, Gosselins! – to the movies at none other than East Brunswick’s Mega Movies.

Unlike another TLC couple, Eric and Betty Hayes actually seem to LIKE each other. What a concept!/Credit TLC

During the minutes-long clip – which the network sandwiched between new and repeat “Jon & Kate Plus 8” episodes – the family from Marlboro brought all of their children to the movies for the very first time. They attended an advance screening of “Astro Boy” (which opens Friday) and were treated to a birthday party for the sextuplets in the theater’s party room. (The sextuplets’ birthday is Sept. 13; the segment was filmed Sept. 12.)

“Table For 12’s” second season kicked off in September, but the network currently does not have any episodes (new or otherwise) scheduled to air.

You can see photos of the Hayes’ day at the theater by visiting Mega Movies’ Facebook page (the theater is located inside Brunswick Square Mall). “Table For 12” has its own Facebook page, too.

The REAL “Real Housewives of New Jersey” and “New York City”

Just how real are “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” and “New York City”? Pretty darn real, judging an appearance last night by four of the ladies – Teresa Giudice and Caroline Manzo from the Garden State, and Jill Zarin and Alex McCord from the Big Apple – in Englewood, N.J.

Jill Zarin, from left, Alex McCord, host Gino Bisconte, Teresa Giudice and Caroline Manzo. Sorry for the crappy picture, but it's the best I could do with my cell phone. If anyone has better images, please email me at ava@avagacser.com. I will gladly give you credit for them.

Teresa appeared self-conscious, although I thought she looked gorgeous in a crystal (Swarovski?) sleeveless dress that shimmered like crazy under Bergen PAC’s lights.

“I don’t think I look good,” she admitted at one point. “I still have a stomach.”

Considering Teresa just had her fourth daughter, Audriana, barely five weeks ago, I thought she looked – dare I say it? – FABULOUS!!!

Clearly, the woman has a skewed vision of reality – and Caroline thought so, too, because this is what she said:

“(Teresa) was complaining she put on a size 6 jeans the day after the baby was born.”

“I’m a size 4,” Teresa explained.

Not surprisingly, Teresa referred to her husband Joe – the owner of  G&G Stucco and Stone in Clifton – as “delicious and juicy,” though a little on the plump side.

“I told him he could lose a few pounds,” she added. “(I said) ‘Hon, we were pregnant together.'”

In additional baby Audriana news, Teresa said her older girls – Gia, 8, Gabriella, 5, and Milania, 3 – love the new addition.

“(Milania) squeezes her so hard and kisses her so much all over,” she said. “They’re being like little mommies.”

Unlike her parents, baby Audriana has blue eyes, and “everybody’s saying she looks just like Gabriella,” said Teresa.

One attendee asked Teresa if Star Magazine was correct in reporting that she paid $25,000 for a 5th birthday party for (I’m guessing) daughter Gabriella. She didn’t answer the question directly and said fans would have to wait until the next season to find out.

Additional tidbits I learned last night:

*Jill, Alex and Teresa all have books coming out. Jill, who is a spokeswoman for Kodak, has a book called “Secrets of a Jewish Mother” that she co-wrote with her mother and sister; Amazon.com lists it as releasing April 15. Alex’s book, “Little Kids, Big City,” is scheduled for release on March 31. While Teresa offered no details on her book, Amazon lists it as “Skinny Jeans and Spaghetti,” with a release date of May 4.

*There is a feud going on between Teresa and “Real Housewife of New York City” Bethenny Frankel. “I know Bethenny hates me, and I don’t care,” said Teresa. Turning to Alex and Jill, she added, “You guys can relay the message.”

*Teresa purchases her children’s clothing at Stage Left in Franklin Lakes.

*Caroline loves living in New Jersey because “everything is just a blink away.” Jill loves the fact that “there’s no sales tax on clothes” in the Garden State.

*Caroline’s daughter Lauren is a freelance makeup artist. “I went to beauty school, and I wax backs,” Lauren revealed. She still will not go anywhere near chuckies, though. (Lauren’s brother, Albie, was also in attendance and received a lot of female attention.)

*After flipping over the table at Lu Nello in Cedar Grove, Teresa said to Joe, “Hon, leave some money. I broke dishes.”

*Caroline acknowledged that she doesn’t take her wealth for granted. “You never forget where you come from,” she said, explaining that she wore her husband’s shirts when she was pregnant because they couldn’t afford maternity clothes. “Tomorrow it could be all gone; it’s just stuff,” she added.

*While Jill and Alex couldn’t talk specifics about the new season, Jill said “I am so excited to have new blood” on the show.

*Jill spoke briefly about her encounter this summer with “Jon & Kate Plus 8” dad Jon Gosselin. “He was quite charming,” she admitted. She said she had no idea that Jon – who she described as being from “that crazy show with that crazy wife” – was also an invited guest to the same dinner party until she arrived and saw him and Michael Lohan.

*Caroline said she had a gut feeling that she should keep fellow “Housewife” Danielle Staub at a distance, even though she admitted that it was her own sister, Dina Manzo, who came up with the idea of getting Danielle on the show. “Why don’t we get the crazy girl from the salon (to be on the show)?” Teresa recalled Dina saying she told Jacqueline Laurita. “Let’s see how crazy she is.”

*Bravo has not announced when either the third season of “New York City” or the second season of “New Jersey” will return, although both are in production.

*The event was hosted/moderated by comedian Geno Bisconte.

You can get an idea of what last night was like from this video. In the meantime, you have another opportunity to see four of the five New Jersey housewives – Dina, Caroline, Jacqueline and Teresa (no Danielle!) – at The Wellmont Theatre in Montclair on Saturday, Nov. 7. Tickets are still available.
