Hugh Laurie and the "House" cast: Say farewell./Photo credit Fox
Fox has pulled the plug on its hugely popular series “House.” The show, currently in its eighth season, takes place at the fictitious Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will wrap up the end of this season. The mag also reports that star Hugh Laurie said in November that he planned on retiring from television acting once the show ended. Meanwhile, the real Princeton-based hospital is flourishing: it is scheduled to move to a new, state of the art facility in May and officially be renamed University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Who says life doesn’t (at least partly) imitate art?
What a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man…
Oh yes, he is!
“He’s not a fake wannabe tryin’ to be a pimp
He dresses like a dapper don, but even in jeans
He’s a God-sent original, the man of my dreams”
Boy, Salt ‘N’ Pepa and En Vogue really were onto something, weren’t they? Then again, this song was penned in the mid-’90s, which is right about the same time I was totally geeking out lusting after men of the U.K. Actors, more specifically.
And I had a major flashback this weekend – via some British/Scottish-specific beefcake viewing – that reminded me that they are, indeed, God-sent originals.
"Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds. Or bends with the remover to remove. Oh no! It is an ever fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken. Willoughby. Willoughby. Willoughby."

I’ve fallen head over heels for Bon Temps’ newest bad boy, Franklin Mott. I’m dying to know more about him (when he was turned, if he’s looking for another woman to obsess over – cause I’m available, ya know), and I sure have got my fingers crossed that Tara didn’t do him any more harm than dent his head in a little.
Side note #1: I’m finding myself writing this post in an adopted Sookie Stackhouse-like Southern accent. Kinda weird.
At any rate, while I whittle away the hours until my dear Franklin’s return to “True Blood” (and of his return I’m absolutely certain), I thought I’d pontificate on about the *history* I share with the fantabulous actor who plays him, James Frain.
After a lackluster second season (in my opinion, anyway), the HBO series has *vamped* things up considerably. I’m loving the dynamic duo team of Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer), and the increased sexual tension between Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) is nothing short of A-W-E-S-O-M-E. (Can’t wait for the show to delve further into the novels’ plotlines in that regard!)
